Bollywood has been a constant game changer for the wedding industry. From the incorporation of songs into sangeet dances to replicating the wedding trousseau, brides have been taking inspiration from the big screen since time immemorial. While you may not be able to feature in your own movie, but you can recreate your filmy wedding look with these easy steps. We have put together ideas for every budget.
Ok Jaanu (Budget – ₹)
This does not require you to splurge on costumes – just rummage through your wardrobe and pull out you best casual clothes. Style it with sunglasses or a simple scarf, and voila! If you don’t want to splurge on hiring a candid photographer, give your aspiring photographer friend a call (we all have one of those!) You don’t have to have swanky locations for your shoot – your favourite couch or a friend’s house does the trick. We are a sucker for intimate black and white shots on a bike.
Shaandar (Budget – ₹)
This is a tad more styled than the Ok Jaanu photoshoot but is just as fun. Get decked up in your elegant gowns and vests and use a subtle layer of make-up and choose your favourite café or a park. You can bring back your photographer friend, and with this backdrop, you will have memories you can treasure forever. Make your outdoor shoots a million times better by investing in battery operated twinkly lights.
Tanu Weds Manu (Budget – ₹₹)
This works best on the day of your wedding. A happy groom in a formal attire and a quirky bride is all you need. Since you are already in your attire, makeup and have the perfect backdrop, just think of whacky poses to capture! The best part? You won’t have to spend anything extra on this. The bonus – you can get some friends and family in on the shoot as well and capture your precious moments forever!
Badri Ki Dulhania
We love this movie so much, it has inspired us to have two different looks and we will try and do justice to both.
Fresh (Budget – ₹)
This type of photoshoot is like a breath of fresh air. It involves the happy couple with no frills and fancies. No make-up, no wardrobe planning, no location needed! Your canvas is wherever you want it – the beach or even your terrace.
Thumka wala (Budget – ₹₹)
Add the typical Bollywood chaska to your photoshoot with a theme. Pick your nicest lehenga and sherwani and have a blast posting filmy style. The more over the top, the better. Use a white background or a green screen so you can edit in the background you want. For maximized impact, wear big jhumkas and a pair of colourful sunglasses.
Barfi (Budget – ₹₹₹)
Although Ranbir and Illeana don’t get together in the end, they have some beautiful shots in Darjeling. Recreate the romance with a quick one day get away to your local hill station. For the true filmy experience, hire local cycles and explore the sights.
